This is going to be a quick and dirty newsletter, since I'm already a day late. My apologies for this—I've spent the week in Las Vegas for a little "me time"—that is, a few days of smoking cigars and drinking mojitos.
This is going to be a quick and dirty newsletter, since I'm already a day late. My apologies for this—I've spent the week in Las Vegas for a little "me time"—that is, a few days of smoking cigars and drinking mojitos and dissociating and reading way through too much news. I'm officially caught up and neck-deep in despair! 🎉
Santa Barbara is currently drowning under the rainfall of an atmospheric river. The last few years during January/February have been really wet. No rain for months and then too much all of the sudden. Sometimes this happens on the heels of fires, and with the resulting loose soil and extra water, turns into mudslides.
The rain is cozy when you don't have to walk in it, which I do, since I'm at the coffee shop.
Some good news though! Moon City Review has announced the cover for their 2025 issue. Why am I mentioning this? Because I'm in this one, with a birthday poem I wrote for myself on my 45th birthday in Sri Lanka over a year ago. Poetry moves slower than I'd like but I'm glad this poem is coming out.
